Below is a list of workshops, classes, and seminars I can offer to you, your school, or at one of your events. All classes are open to men and women. Please Contact Me if you are seeking a specific level for the classes below, classes for younger children, private, or semi-private instruction, or if there is something you would like to learn that isn’t listed below.
- Workshop / Class
- Basics: Salsa
This class is an introduction to Salsa basics with an emphasis on understanding the timing of music, the basic step and easy to use combinations. This can be broken down into a 4-8hr course for a more a more in-depth learning experience.
- Spin Technique: Basics
This class teaches the fundamental elements for executing precise and consistent spins. You will develop a greater awareness of your body and learn the intricacies of spinning, preparation for spins, controlling momentum and stopping. This workshop is excellent for anyone that wants to improve their technique and balance while spinning and dancing.
- Spin Technique: Advanced
This class teaches the proper technique for traveling spins, multiple spins, and variations on spins. The focus of the class is precision and control through proper form. It is recommended that you first take the Spins Technique class and have a firm grasp of the basic technique.
- Body Movement
This class focuses on the underlying body awareness and control that goes into different types of body movement. You will learn how to isolate, elongate and energize different parts of the body and how to combine the movement into a sequence done to music.
This class focuses on footwork sequences designed to challenge and improve your sense of balance, weight transfer, speed and precision.
- Ladies Styling
This class focuses on developing a strong but feminine aspect to your dance through extension and elegance. You will learn how to create and complete graceful and powerful movements. A portion of the class will also deal with attitude and presence, and how to use them to compliment your movement.
- Lead / Follow: Fundamentals
This class will increase your awareness of the non-verbal conversation that takes place in dance through observation of touch, eye contact, mimicking, and energy cues.
- Lead / Follow: Basic Technique
This class is designed to teach those already familiar with the basic the proper timing and lead for a variety of patterns and moves. You will learn proper resistance and tension, how to use your frame when leading/following, and how to be light and responsive as a leader and follower..
- Lead / Follow: Energy Exchange
This class is designed to heighten your awareness of the exchange of energy that takes place within a dance through exercises designed to identify, master, and manipulate elements like tension, resistance, push-and-pull, compression, elasticity, etc. You will improve your ability to create a clear and smooth connection with your partner and be able to perfect your communication on the dance floor.
- Lead - Follow: Styling Within Partnerwork
This class is designed to help intermediate/advanced dancers understand how to read momentum and energy within the dance to elevate their expression beyond simple turn patterns. You will learn how to master the pauses, syncopate your movement, play with the music without disrupting the lead/follow, and learn how to experiment in a playful and respectful manner.
- Cha Cha Cha Footwork
This class will teach footwork and body movement sequences to the Latin Rhythm of Cha Cha Cha
- Basics: Bachata
This class is an introduction to Bachata basics with an emphasis on understanding the timing of music, the basic step and easy to use combinations. This can be broken down into a 4-8hr course for a more a more in-depth learning experience.
- Seminar: Musicality & Connection
This seminar focuses on identifying and understanding the rhythmical patterns and structure of a song, how to connect with your partner and the music, and how to adapt your movement and patterns to best suit the music and the environment. This is an excellent class for anyone that wants to be more creative and musical in their social dancing and on stage.
- Seminar: Intention To Connect
This seminar focuses on identifying and developing your intention to get the richest experience on and off the dance floor. We will be addressing various mental (psychological) and emotional obstacles that can hinder our ability to form a genuine connection with our partners.
- Seminar: Developing the Student-Teacher Relationship
This seminar focuses on understanding the basic psychology (or should we say ‘elements’) of learning and communication. As a student, you will learn how to choose optimal environments and develop the right mentality to maximize your growth. As a teacher, you will learn how to effectively communicate and transfer information in a manner that facilitates that growth.
- Seminar: Tools for Creativity (solo)
This seminar is designed to develop and understanding of how much freedom and room for creativity there exists when it comes to solo expression. As a student, you will first learn how to identify the rules in place, how to improve your execution of those rules, and finally how to creatively break those rules while staying connected to the music.
- Seminar: Tools for Creativity (Partnered)
This seminar is designed to develop and understanding of how much freedom and room for creativity there exists when it comes to partnered expression. As a student, you will first learn how to identify the fundamentals of a pattern, how to improve your execution of that pattern, and finally how and when to alter the pattern creatively while maintaining connection to your partner and the music.
- Master Classes
Master Classes are available on any of the above topics and are designed for advanced dancers. Movements and sequences will be covered quickly without a heavy emphasis on basic steps.
